The final hours
olympics.jbonair.com
After an amazing hockey win for Team Canada, the Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics brought even more excitement to the country. Naturally, that spilled into the streets and continued all night. From random street dancing and performances to more national anthem singing, Canadians didn't want the party to end.

An estimated 100,000 people flocked to the downtown streets to celebrate Canada's achievements during the Games. With so many people in such a small area, it's remarkable police report no major incidents. (Although there was a very happy couple in a storefront doorway that had its own celebration and couldn't keep tongues off each other. They didn't even seem to notice as people ran by, hooting and spanking their bottoms!)
And a final look as people called it a night and went home. The streets littered with garbage and the clean up beginning, Vancouver was beginning to come back to normal. Well, there isn't usually that much garbage!

The night went on until it was, well, morning! Car honking gradually faded and the banging of drums and hollaring stopped. Vancouver was ready for bed after two and a half weeks of partying. All across Canada, Canucks were celebrating and undoubtedly there were many people calling in sick Monday morning after the Closing Ceremonies.

Monday morning Vancouver airport was set to have 1,000 airplanes take off with approximately 39,000 passengers, making it the busiest day ever at YVR. Travellers were suggested to be at the terminal four hours early. Athletes leaving the West Coast had special check-in and baggage drop-off to make things a little easier for the rest of the crowd.
